When “13 Reasons Why” debuted on Netflix, it was a completely different world. Even just several years ago, when Netflix released a new original series, it was an event. The entire TV-watching world discussed it. And “13 Reasons Why” was ripe for discussion, as it featured controversial scenes involving teenage characters, touching on the issue of suicide. But as the years went on, the series kept releasing new seasons and developed a strong fanbase, but the excitement seems to have waned quite a bit. And next month, the “13 Reasons Why” story comes to an end.
As is teased in the new video released by Netflix, the cast and crew of “13 Reasons Why” are prepping the release of the fourth and final season of the series on June 5. No longer the source of immense discussion and debate, “13 Reasons Why” is ending its four-year run as just another original series arriving in 2020, arguably without as much fanfare as it might have gotten in a world where Netflix didn’t release 500 originals in a calendar year.
The series features a huge ensemble of actors including Dylan Minnette, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Miles Heizer, Grace Saif, Christian Navarro, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Timothy Granaderos, Anne Winters, Deaken Bluman, Tyler Barnhardt, Austin Aaron, Inde Navarrette, RJ Brown, Steven Weber, Brenda Strong, Amy Hargreaves, Josh Hamilton, Mark Pellegrino, and Jan Luis Castellanos.
The fourth and final season of “13 Reasons Why” arrives on Netflix on June 5.
Here’s the synopsis for the final season:
In the series’ final season, Liberty High School’s Senior Class prepares for graduation. But before they say goodbye, they’ll have to keep a dangerous secret buried and face heartbreaking choices that could impact their futures forever.
