‘61st Street’ Season 2 Teaser: The Heart-Stopping AMC Series Returns in 2023

Following on from the Season 1 finale in May, AMC is wasting no time and is already teasing “61st Street” Season 2.

The hard-hitting AMC drama series takes a look at the criminal justice system in Chicago from the perspective of the police officers and prosecutors who are trying to work their way through a deadly drug bust. Emmy-winner Courtney B. Vance leads an ensemble cast. Vance is known for her work on the FX series “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.” Joining Vance in the cast are Aunjanue Ellis (“King Richard”), Mark O’Brien (“City on a Hill,”), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Lights Out), Tosin Cole (“Doctor Who”), Andrene Ward-Hammond (“Manifest”), and Bentley Green (“Snowfall”).

Here’s the synopsis:

61st Street courses through the dark heart of the infamous Chicago criminal justice system as police and prosecutors investigate a deadly drug bust that threatens to unravel the police department’s code of silence.

BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat will return to direct Season 2. The filmmaker is known for his work in the series “Criminal Justice” and “Your Honour.” “61st Street” originally premiered in April, with Moffat directing and executively produced by Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo. However, the second season will be executively produced by Moffat, Shanks (“The Chi”), Elizabeth Raposo (“Just Mercy”), Alana Mayo (“Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse”), Jeff Freilich (“Lodge 49”), and Hilary Salmon (“London Spy”). 

The first season of “61st Street” is available to stream on AMC+ now, with Season 2 debuting in 2023.
