8 Unmade Versions Of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Everyone loves a good “What if?” scenario. Many times, years after projects were either released or completely dead, fans hear about what could have been. What about Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly in “Back to the Future?” Or, what would have Edgar Wright’s vision of Marvel Studios’Ant Man” looked like? Well, the biggest franchise out there, “Star Wars,” has plenty of these questions, specifically regarding what might have been if George Lucas got a chance to fully realize his vision for the series.

A new video from What Culture breaks down one of the biggest “What if?” scenarios in the series – the different potential versions of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” You see, the idea of an ‘Episode VII’ was always speculated among “Star Wars” fans for decades, since the end of ‘Return of the Jedi.’ Instead of pushing on with the sequels, Lucas decided to make the prequels. You know what? Let’s just not even get into those.

Well, according to the good people over at What Culture, there are actually 8 different versions of ‘Episode VII’ that have sorta, kinda existed over the years. From the original vision of George Lucas to a David Fincher ‘Ex Machina‘ in space,” the video really makes you wonder what these versions would have looked like.

For better or worse, when Disney released the record-breaking ‘The Force Awakens,’ we got the official version of what happened in the Skywalker saga. However, it’s still fun to wonder what could have been.
