"It's such a different environment. In this day and age you don't have the monolithic record company with seemingly limitless resources and multimillion-dollar profits. They don't exist. Which is why a partnership like this exists. The movie company does have that, and they will promote it. It's the only way to get your music in front of people," Chris Cornell recently told THR. Oh how times have changed since Badmotorfinger….
Soundgarden are back! And after touring the world and playing their old songs to adoring fans for the past while, they've dropped their first new tune in 15 years on the laughably hilarious "The Avengers" soundtrack. The video for "Live To Rise" is here and it's your standard band-playing-in-a-warehouse-cut-with-clips-from-the-movie format they've been using since…well, the '90s…and it's probably easy on the wallet since something like this probably costs $50 to make. The song is forgettable at best, unnecessary at worst. And holy shit, those guys got old. Is Kim Thayil like, a 100 years old now?
The movie hits this weekend, the soundtrack is in stores now. Watch below. [Stereogum]
