Late last week, Max Landis offered up a series of since deleted tweets (read them here) about his experience working on "Chronicle" with Josh Trank, and how the film amounted to an outlier of creative freedom compared to the way Hollywood usually works. Over the weekend, he shared that the pitch he made for the franchise but thought it might be in bad taste. Whatever his reservations were, he’s scratching his itch to get it out there, and today he posted the first four pages of the "Fantastic Four" script he wrote four years ago.
And it’s certainly compelling. Unlike the subdued opening of Trank’s film, this one kicks off with a helluva exciting incident, as Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, and Sue Storm evade a raid by the FBI’s SWAT team, and go launching into outer space, via a souped up 1968 Corvair Ultra Van. I might’ve picked some better music than Spacehog, but hey, different strokes for different folks.
Give it a read below. What do you think Landis’ take on the characters?
