After Paramount laid out a bunch of release dates yesterday, Warner Bros. is now looking at the calendar and getting their ducks in a row, starting with a project that has been in the works for years.
The studio’s forever developing remake of “A Star Is Born” will open on September 28, 2018. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga will take the lead roles (with Co0per making his directorial debut, and co-writing the script) in the story about the relationship that develops between a wide-eyed girl dreaming of stardom, and an older, washed up, alcoholic musician. The film recently added Ray Liotta as the manager of both Cooper and Gaga’s characters, and there are currently no other movies on that 2018 date. But it’s right at the front end of the awards season, which makes Warner Bros.’ expectations pretty clear.
Other movies getting dates from the studio include the YA romance “Everything, Everything” which will open on August 18, 2017 opposite the Ryan Reynolds action flick “The Hitman’s Bodyguard.” Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson‘s “Rampage” will arrive on April 20, 2018. [THR]
