Jessica Biel is set to to make her first live action TV appearance since appearing in “New Girl” three years ago. “The Sinner” follows a young mother by the name of Cora (Biel) who is overwhelmed by a random fit of rage, committing a brutal act of violence in the process. Horrified and confused as to the reason why, the main narrative of the season will look to uncover that mystery. Bill Pullman will co-star as Harry Ambrose, a detective who becomes beset with bringing Cora’s motivations to light as he works with her to delve into her psyche and past.
“The Sinner” is based on Petra Hammesfahr’s 2007 novel of the same name. The acclaimed German crime writer, is the winner of several awards including the Crime Prize of Wiesbaden and Rhineland Literary Prize.
Although Biel made a brief cameo on “New Girl” in 2014, it’s been over fifteen years since she last starred in a series, following her exit from “7th Heaven” as a program regular in 2002. Antonio Campos (“Christine“) directs the pilot episode of “The Sinner” which is set to debut on the USA Network this summer. [EW]
