As the summer is winding down, you might’ve forgotten that “Alien: Covenant” was a thing we all endured. Ridley Scott promised that his followup to “Prometheus” was return to the roots of the franchise, giving us the simple, effective terror we’ve come to expect, and less of the ponderous, philosophical mumbo jumbo that now takes up way too much in the series. Oops.

Screen Junkies’ tackles that and more in their Honest Trailer for the flick, which effectively breaks down the many reasons the movie failed to resonate. Of course, there’s all the big (empty) ideas that get batted around, yet another crew of idiotic scienticians, extended jam sessions on the flute, and the realization you’re watching a B-grade horror script, masquerading as an “Alien” movie, directed by someone who should know better. We’re not keen on kicking movies when they’re down, but “Alien: Covenant” makes it too easy.
