I don’t know what you’re doing tonight, but I’ll be curled up at home, getting my British monarchy on with “The Crown” season two. If you think this series is all tea and crumpets, guess again, because the award-winning show has plenty of political intrigue and monocle popping developments.
In case you’re just returning from the moon, the series is led by Claire Foy (the next Lisbeth Salander!), playing Queen Elizabeth II who has to handle world affairs while also dealing with a marriage that seems to be constantly in trouble, and a sister who can’t help but rebel and get into trouble at every turn. As our review notes, “It would take a very smart script, apt direction, and pitch-perfect acting to make this American feel sorry for a bunch of too-rich imperialists, and damn it if ‘The Crown’ doesn’t pull it all off.” Can’t argue with that.
Both seasons of “The Crown” are now streaming on Netflix.
