“Pitch Perfect” is one of the biggest breakout, surprise franchises of the past decade. With three hit films over a five-year period from 2012 to 2017, “Pitch Perfect” has a devoted fanbase that sure does love acapella, gross-out humor. Go figure.
Well, according to Peacock, the “Pitch Perfect” franchise is coming to streaming in a brand-new original series. But if you’re hoping for Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson to star in the series, you’re out of luck. Instead, Adam Devine, one of the supporting cast members from the franchise, is set to lead the way in the spinoff series.

According to Peacock, the new series will follow Bumper (Devine) several years after the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, when he moves to Germany to revive his music career after one of his songs becomes a big hit in Europe. Expect hijinks and acapella music to ensue. Elizabeth Banks is back on board to executive produce the series, after being so heavily involved with the feature films. Other executive producers include Devine, Max Handelman, Paul Brooks, Scott Neimeyer, and Megan Amram.
“Our upcoming ‘Pitch Perfect’ series is another example of the unmatched synergy NBCUniversal is able to expand upon with our wide-ranging library of IP,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “When we saw the opportunity to create a series for ‘Pitch Perfect’ with Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Paul Brooks plus more earworm classics for super fans to enjoy, we jumped at it. And to top it off, we are so fortunate that Adam Devine is headlining the series and bringing fans the quirky, laugh-out-loud sensibility they loved in the film franchise.”

Erin Underhill, President, Universal Television, added, “We’re so happy to have the opportunity to bring the beloved Universal Pictures franchise ‘Pitch Perfect’ to the small screen and to explore the hilarious and distinct characters in this (musical-filled) world. We’re lucky to partner with the talented Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Paul Brooks, who produced the iconic films; the exceptionally funny and memorable Adam Devine; and Megan Amram, whose clever adaptation of ‘Pitch Perfect’ is sure to have audiences laughing out loud and tapping their feet.”
Obviously, it’s far too early to know when “Pitch Perfect” might arrive on Peacock. But as with all of these IP-based revivals on streaming platforms, you have to assume Peacock wants this to get made ASAP.
