Update 08/30: Marvel confirms Bradley Cooper will voice Rocket Raccoon in “Guardians Of The Galaxy.”
As we noted yesterday, Bradley Cooper has spent the last few years making a conscious effort to work with filmmakers of esteem on projects with some weight and substance—folks like Susanne Bier, Derek Cianfrance, David O. Russell, Cameron Crowe and Clint Eastwood. But is the actor now ready to sit in a recording booth and collect some easy, low-paying money for a voice role? If the folks at Marvel have their way, that could be the case.
Latino Review reports that the comic studio has made an offer to Cooper to play Rocket Raccoon in “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” with THR confirming the actor is in early talks. While it might seem like something that wouldn’t necessarily be of interest to someone of the caliber of Cooper, it should be noted that this spring, Kevin Feige was already trumpeting the part as one that could steal the whole movie. That being said, that hasn’t been enough to convince folks like Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey who were apparently in the mix/wanted earlier in the year.
Will he or won’t he? Guess we’ll see. It would be a relatively easy gig for Cooper in a lot of ways, but we don’t see the allure either. But then again, if you had said a year ago that Vin Diesel and Glenn Close would be in a Marvel movie together, we would have called you crazy. “Guardians Of The Galaxy” opens on August 1, 2014.
