'A Quiet Place Part II': Paramount Vacates Spring & Moves Sequel To September

Following a wave of new theatrical release date delays due to COVID-19 concerns and slow vaccine rollout issues, Paramount Pictures is the latest studio getting in on the “fun” of pushing back their big releases. Faced with tough realities about releasing movies in the spring (because theaters essentially won’t open then), the studio had now axed “A Quiet Place Part II“s most recent scheduled release of April 23, 2021, instead, delaying the film to September 17, 2021, as mentioned by Exhibitor Relations on Twitter.

Paramount’s next big film, Tom Cruise‘s ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ is set to be released on July 2, 2021, but there isn’t word if they’ll ultimately stick to that summer release or simply delay that film as well (Cruise, like Christopher Nolan, is said to be big on the theatrical experience and apparently Paramount recently passed on offers from rival streamers to buy the “Top Gun” sequel). As of now, the expectation is any film currently slated for April through June is likely going to be delayed, either sent into the fall or early 2022.
