Brandon Cronenberg, the son of famed Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg, is making quite the impact as a director in his own right. His latest sci-fi thriller, “Possessor,” seemed to make a huge impression over at NEON. As NEON has announced today, it is moving forward with Cronenberg’s next feature film, “Infinity Pool” which has Alexander Skarsgård (“The Little Drummer Girl,” “Big Little Lies“) attached in a major part as a character named James in the science-fiction thriller that will begin filming on September 6.
NEON will co-finance and produce alongside Tropic Studios. Here’s the synopsis:

James (Skarsgård) and Em are young, rich, in love, and on vacation. Their all-inclusive resort boasts island tours and gleaming beaches. But outside of the hotel gates waits something much more dangerous and seductive, beyond the edge of paradise.
NEON will distribute in the U.S., with Elevation Pictures handling the Canadian release. If you’re not familiar with NEON, they released Best Picture winner “Parasite” along with other pics such as “Palm Springs,” “Portrait of A Lady On Fire,” “Wild Rose,” “I, Tonya,” and the upcoming Nicholas Cage film “Pig.”
The announced involvement of Telefilm Canada and the Croatian Film Fund would suggest “Infinity Pool” will shoot in both Canada and Croatia.
Alexander Skarsgård was recently seen in the Stephen King series adaptation of “The Stand” and Legendary‘s pandemic-era box office juggernaut “Godzilla Vs. Kong” from director Adam Wingard. In addition, the Swedish actor has a lead role in Robert Eggers‘ Viking epic “The Northman” that sees Skarsgård co-starring alongside Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, and Icelandic singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir (“The Juniper Tree,” “Dancer In The Dark“).
We’ll be interested to see who Brandon Cronenberg will cast to play the female lead.
