The last time we saw Amy Adams on the big screen was in last year’s “Justice League” film. Even though we’re only two years removed from her roles in “Arrival” and “Nocturnal Animals,” it’s time for Amy Adams to get that “Justice League” stink off her. And it looks like she’s ready to do that with the upcoming film, “The True American.”
According to Variety, Amy Adams is in negotiations to make “The True American” her next project. The only thing holding up the official announcement is her promotional schedule for her series, “Sharp Objects.” But apparently, Adams is really hoping to make everything work out to join this film.
As we reported recently, “The True American” is shaping up to be a great film, at least on paper. With the recent casting announcements of Kumail Nanjiani and Mark Ruffalo, as the two leads, and director Pablo Larrain on board to helm, the film is only going to get better with Adams now on board. The film follows the true story of a Muslim immigrant (Nanjiani) that narrowly survives an attack that took two other immigrants lives. The survivor ends up working to spare the life of his attacker, a self-professed “Arab Slayer” (Mark Ruffalo).
The film is being produced by Annapurna, which has been working for quite some time to get this film going. Previously, Kathryn Bigelow was attached to direct.
Adams has been hard at work on her HBO series “Sharp Objects” and the upcoming Dick Cheney biopic “Backseat,” in which she’ll portray Cheney’s wife, Lynn, opposite Christian Bale as Cheney. However, as we mentioned, the last film she was in was the horrible “Justice League,” where she played Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill’s CGI mouth. It seems so long ago that she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Arrival.”
No word yet on the release date for “The True American.”
