Billie Eilish's Theme For 'No Time To Die' Is Here & It's Pretty Good

When it was announced that Billie Eilish would write (along with her brother FINNEAS and perform the new theme for “No Time To Die,” the upcoming James Bond film, many people (myself included) thought that the producers were going a bit too poppy and modern with their choice. But hearing the new song, appropriately titled, “No Time To Die,” it’s clear that Eilish has bent her sound around the idea of a Bond title theme, creating something that doesn’t stray too far away from what came before.

Sure, there are moments in the song that feel completely like Billie Eilish, with her breathy, monotone vocals, but then when the backing music comes in, it does sound very James Bond-y and in the best way. It’s definitely not a trainwreck, but also not the greatest Bond theme ever. It’s not even better than recent entries like Adele’s Skyfall.” It’s perfectly…fine.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,” Eilish said. “To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

FINNEAS adds, “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Live and Let Die.’ We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

“There are a chosen few who record a Bond theme,” said director Cary Joji Fukunaga. “I am a huge fan of Billie and FINNEAS. Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought – a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come.”
