Cannes: 'Tokyo!' Teaser Clips And Scene From Michel Gondry's 'Interior Design' Short, Film Sells At Cannes

That Cannes website has a bunch of goods doesn’t it? Next on the list is many a teaser trailer and scene from “Tôkyô!,” the three-tiered vignettes film directed by Michel Gondry, Joon-ho Bong and Leos Carax (his first film since 1999’s “Pola X,” a movie scored by the great Scott Walker).

Collider, who also snagged all the clips from Cannes has a breakdown of all three stories (that they prolly pinched elsewhere, but credit to them for doing so).

“Interior Design” by Michel Gondry: the surreal fable of a young couple who moves to Tokyo in search of a future. While the boy’s ambition is clear – be a movie maker- the girl drifts gradually apart. Both of them will be drowned in the imensity until the girl, feeling alone, discovers something strange.

“Merde” by Leos Carax: a mysterious man spreads confusion on the streets of Tokyo through a succession of irrational and provocative acts. ” The Creature of the Sewers ” as the media have dubbed him, arouse passion or repulsion. He will be captured, judged and then…

“Shaking Tokyo” by Bong Joon-Ho: He is a hikikomori – like many others in Japan, he has withdrawn from all contact with the outside world .When the pizza delivery girl faints during an earthquake, the unthinkable happens – the man falls in love. Will he take the unimaginable step : leaving the dead security of his apartment for the streets of Tokyo?

If you want to see clips from all the films and watch all the three teaser clips, go to the Cannes website for more. One early review says, the film is “uneven, but enjoyable and likens it to a “nastier Eastern sibling to ‘Paris, Je T’aime,’ plus calls Gondry’s short, “arguably the best.”

Oh and lastly, the fim was just sold at Cannes by Liberation Entertainment for North American distribution according to the Hollywood Reporter.
