Sony Will Give Carnage A Villainous Love Interest In The Upcoming 'Venom' Sequel

If you were someone that didn’t rush out of the theater the second the credits started to roll in last year’s “Venom,” then you probably know exactly who the main villain of the sequel is going to be. The end-credits scene for the film introduced Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasaday, otherwise known as Carnage, teasing an epic battle in the forthcoming sequel. However, it appears that Harrelson won’t be alone in tormenting the title hero in “Venom 2.”

According to Deadline, Carnage will be joined by the Marvel villain known as Shriek in the upcoming “Venom 2.” While only one letter separating the two, you should definitely not confuse the evil Shriek with the adorable Shrek. The former is a much nastier character with a far more annoying voice.

While we don’t know who might play the character, it’s clear from Shriek’s Marvel history that she’ll play a pivotal role in the film. Shriek has the ability to use her voice to create shields and energy blasts. Perhaps more importantly, at least for “Venom 2,” the villain has the distinct ability to unlock the inner darkness in people, making them violent. One could see how this might be a cinematic short-cut for creating a villain in the film.

As for her relationship to Carnage and Venom, Shriek is also the romantic partner for Kasaday, making her the right-hand woman to Harrelson in the film. Hey, what about someone like Juliette Lewis taking on the role, giving film fans a “Natural Born Killers” reunion? Comic book lore says that Kasaday is a serial killer, so it wouldn’t be too crazy to bring a “Natural Born Killers” vibe to the film.

“Venom 2” once again stars Tom Hardy as the title character. Except for this time, Andy Serkis replaces the outgoing Ruben Fleischer behind the camera as the film’s director.

There’s no release date set for the film, but production is expected to begin in early 2020.
