Casting: Zachary Quinto Goes To 'Girls,' Alicia Vikander Sees 'Light Between Oceans' & More

Margin Call Zachary Quinto

While Lena Dunham‘s “Girls” has earned the most headlines for its envelope-pushing tales of the sex and lives of young women in New York City, less appreciated have been the clever guest starring spots, with folks as wide-ranging as Patrick Wilson, Chris O’Dowd and Ben Mendelsohn all popping in, and now another name is joining the ranks. Zachary Quinto has nabbed a one-off appearance in season four, but of course, his role is being kept under wraps for now. Alicia Vikander is keeping busy. She’s got “Ex Machina” and “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” on the way, while both “Tulip Fever” and “Testament Of Youth” are filming, and she’s adding two more projects to her slate. Firstly, she’ll star opposite Michael Fassbender in Derek Cianfrance‘s “The Light Between Oceans,” which follows “a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in Australia who with his wife rescues a baby they find in a rowboat and raise it as their own.” She’ll also take a role in Tom Hooper‘s “The Danish Girl” with Eddie Redmayne, the story “inspired by the story of Danish painter Einar Wegener and his wife, and the love they shared even as he became the first man to undergo a sex change operation in 1931.” We really hope Vikander gives her agent a bonus this year, as these are some great choices. With Don Cheadle‘s crowdfunding campaign for his Miles Davis biopic “Miles Ahead” now underway, he’s revealing a few more details about the project. Firstly, he tells Shadow & Act that the once attached Zoe Saldana is out, but “Boardwalk Empire” star Michael Stuhlbarg has joined. Also coming aboard? “Short Term 12” breakout star Keith Stanfield “will play Junior, an edgy but impressionable trumpet player involved in the theft” of stolen recording that Miles is trying to track down along with a Rolling Stone reporter, played by Ewan McGregor. Should it all come together, production will begin this summer. [The Wrap]
