Channing Tatum Replaces Ryan Reynolds Opposite Sandra Bullock In 'The Lost City Of D'

Sorry, “The Proposal” stans, it appears that the reunion between Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock isn’t meant to be. At least, it’s not going to happen in the upcoming adventure rom-com, “The Lost City of D.”

According to THR, Paramount is in final talks with actor Channing Tatum to star opposite Bullock in the upcoming rom-com, “The Lost City of D.” The film is directed by Adam and Aaron Nee and said to be in the same vein as comedies such as “Romancing the Stone.” ‘Lost City of D’ is said to follow the story of a romance author (Bullock) that discovers a fictional city that she wrote about is actually real. She then teams up with an actor (Tatum), who portrays the lead character in her book, to go on an adventure to find the city.

Originally, back in October, when the film was first announced, the report claimed that Reynolds was being eyed along with Bullock for the lead roles. This would have been the first time the two reunited since the breakout hit rom-com, “The Proposal.” However, it appears that Tatum is taking over, and honestly, as much as Reynolds is a great comedic actor, Tatum has proven himself to be just as capable.

Tatum’s biggest comedic roles are probably in the two ‘21 Jump Street’ films, where he played the jock, doofus cop opposite Jonah Hill. And in those two films, as much as Hill is funny, it’s Tatum that shines in a role that finds him playing against the cool guy charm that he normally utilizes in films. He’s also done comedic parts in “Logan Lucky” and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”

While there’s no production start date revealed, the report claims that “The Lost City of D” is a priority for Paramount, and with these two stars attached, clearly this is a film that could do big business for the studio. Hopefully, that means we’ll see it sooner rather than later.
