Chris Evans Says 'Avengers: Endgame' Is A "Completion Of The Arc" for Captain America & Is Quickly Shushed By Joe Russo

The folks involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe are probably the most media-trained bunch in the history of film. From Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to directors like the Russo Brothers to the dozens of actors that have starred in the 22 films, everyone has been really great about keeping their mouths shut regarding spoilers. Well, unless your name is Mark Ruffalo or Tom Holland.

But that training hasn’t prevented the actors and filmmakers from getting hit with a myriad of questions about what’s going to happen in “Avengers: Endgame,” with the hope being that someone must slip up at some point. So, when Chris Evans was asked about his thoughts on Captain America’s story in the new ‘Avengers’ film, people were shocked that the actor was cut short of perhaps revealing a bit too much.

In a press conference (via SuperheroNews), Evans was asked a question about how he feels about Cap’s story in ‘Endgame.’

Evans explained, “Well, I guess I can give broad strokes. I think it’s the completion of the arc. That’s safe to say, right? This movie does provide kind of an ending to a lot of…”

That’s when ‘Endgame’ co-director Joe Russo chimed in with the buzzer noise, signaling that Evans needs to watch what he says, which got a big laugh from the crowd.

The actor composed himself again, and tried to qualify his earlier comments by saying, “There’s a 22-film tapestry. He’s been through so much, specifically…”

However, before he could even get that last thought finished, moderator Jon Favreau interrupted and joked, “Let’s just talk about ‘Scott Pilgrim’…” Of course, fans of the Edgar Wright film know that Evans, along with ‘Endgame’ co-star Brie Larson, starred in the 2010 film, well before either would be the Captains fans know and love.

Regardless of Evans being interrupted, it’s not a shocking revelation to say that the latest ‘Avengers’ film marks the end of an era, not just for Evans and his Captain America character, but for many of the long-time heroes that have been with the franchise since 2012.

But of course, fans are convinced that Cap dies at the end of ‘Endgame,’ so perhaps this was a flub and Evans is hinting at something much more definitive for the character. In less than three weeks, we’ll find out.

“Avengers: Endgame” hits theaters on April 26.
