'Doctor Strange 2': Charlize Theron Shares Clea Images

*You may call this a spoiler, and we’d be inclined to agree, but well, Charlize Theron has said, “the cat’s out of the bag” and posted publicly on social media, so it’s unfortunately, for some, fair game.*

Director Sam Raimi’s (“Evil Dead“) return to the world of Marvel Comics has been one of his biggest box office successes as “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” has already earned $479 million globally, which is quite the feat given the first film’s total was $677.7 million. The latest installment in Marvel’s multiverse saga featured multiple cameos such as Patrick Stewart‘s mutant patriarch Professor X. Another big one has just been made official.

Oscar-winner Charlize Theron (“Mad Max: Fury Road“) has shared two images of herself as her “Doctor Strange 2” character, Clea, on Instagram (See below). One pic looks like it’s from the makeup trailer while the other is a still image directly from the MCU sequel alongside Strange.

In the comics, Clea is the daughter of interdimensional supervillain Dormammu, who first appeared in the original film voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. The magic-wielding Sorceress Supreme becomes the main love interest of Strange.

The actress had previously worked with “Thor” actor Chris Hemsworth (“Furiosa“) on “Snow White & The Huntsman.” Back in 2012, Hemsworth responded to MTV about Theron potentially playing Amora The Enchantress in a “Thor” installment after a rumor was circulating that the villainous Loki cohort was coming to the big screen.

“Oh right. Well she certainly plays a pretty intimidating villain, I think she’d be awesome but I think she’s tied up in 20 other films. I think she’s going on to ‘Mad Max’ next. [But] you never know,” Hemsworth added. “Fingers crossed.”

It’s unclear when and where we might see Theron’s Clea again. Still, when Marvel pursues “Doctor Strange 3” it wouldn’t be hard to imagine she’ll play a role as her dad Dormammu or other interdimensional threats could become fodder for a third movie.
