Daft Punk Looks Like Daft Punk In First Look At Cameo In 'Tron: Legacy'; 20 Min. Free Preview Hits Theaters On October 28th

Is this the year the Academy will recognize electronica in their soundtrack nominations? We’re not gonna hold our breath, but with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross delivering the goods for “The Social Network” and the brief snippets — including an official ninety second preview which you can listen to below — from Daft Punk’s forthcoming work on “Tron: Legacy” sounding ace, it looks like a banner year for bloops and bleeps in film scores.

In the latest part of Disney’s blitzkrieg of a marketing campaign for the film, we now have our first look at Daft Punk in the film and….they look like Daft Punk. We saw a sneak preview of footage from the film and we noted the duo’s appearance saying: “In that bit, Michael Sheen, dressed up like David Bowie (complete with shimmery white wig), turns to the duo (in full robot getup) and says something like “How about you play something with a bit more pep?” After which, of course, some thunderous Daft Punk music kicked in (music from the previous trailers) and a barrage of slick images flashed across the screen.”

So does that sound badass? Well, you’ll probably get a chance to see it for yourself on October 28th when select theaters will be showing 20 or so minutes of footage from the film which we imagine will be the same stuff press got to see as well. How much will it cost you? Absolutely nothing. But you better act fast, tickets were made available today and you get them right here. [Collider]
