'Dark' Trailer: This Might Be Netflix's Next 'Stranger Things' Style Hit

After pouring your heart and soul into creating something original, you might not want to be immediately compared to something else that’s already out there, and successful. However, for the team behind Netflix‘s upcoming “Dark,” that’s just fine by them.

“It’s really exciting because if all those people who watched ‘Stranger Things‘ will at least think about watching ‘Dark,’ I think that’s a great opportunity for us,” series co-creator Jantje Friese told Deadline. “So keep comparing it.”

The German language production is directed the other series co-creator Baran bo Odar (“Sleepless“), and the story centers on the disappearance of two kids in the German small-town of Winden. However, the supernatural twist is not exactly how the kids were taken….but when….

“The story is about four families that are being sent on a frantic hunt after two children disappear. I am part of one family, of course,” actor Louis Hofmann elaborated. “My character Jonas is very introverted and has recently lost his father that has, in a mysterious way, killed himself. Mikkel disappears, the little child. That’s where it all starts. Jonas is then trying to reveal a big family secret.”

Well, this is one very compelling teaser, so considered us intrigued. “Dark” hits Netflix on December 1st.
