Bloody Disgusting reports that director Dennis Iliadis (“The Last House on the Left”) will take over from Nicolas Winding Refn (“Bronson”), on “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.” As we previously reported, Refn left the project to pursue the gestating thriller “Drive“ starring Ryan Gosling.
Everything else remains intact since our last report: Keanu Reeves will still play our favorite doctor, and the script being used is still by “Revolutionary Road” writer Justin Haythe. Little else is known about the project, except that is will be a modern retelling of the classic tale.
However, we may have to wait a bit for that film as Illiadis’ has signed on to direct “Pay The Ghost” which will go in front of cameras this summer. The supernatural thriller “kicks off on Halloween night, when a couple’s young son is mysteriously abducted. A year later, they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways. A string of terrifying clues draws them to search for the boy throughout New York, where they uncover ancient secrets and discover a vicious, vengeful spirit.” No word yet on a cast, but we’re sure those details will be filled in soon. –Christopher Bell
