Diego Luna Joins 'Star Wars: Rogue One'

Diego Luna ChavezYou’d have to go all the way back to 2013’s "Elysium" to mark the last time we saw Diego Luna on the big screen, and while he’s been busy producing and directing a handful of films, he’s returning to multiplexes in a major way.

Variety reports that the actor has joined Felicity Jones and Riz Ahmed in "Star Wars: Rogue One." He’ll be playing one of the rebels who plot to steal the plans for the Death Star in the film that’s set between "Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge Of The Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope." And while the trade also lists Ben Mendelsohn as the villain of this film, the actor has been playing very coy about it.

"I can say that I’ve heard the rumors too, that they are very exciting rumors, but that I can in true honesty say that there is nothing definitive to those rumors. Nothing definitive to those rumors. I know you’ve got to ask. It would be remiss of you not to," he told us recently during press rounds for "Slow West."

Gareth Edwards directs "Star Wars: Rogue One" which opens on December 16, 2016.
