Edgar Wright & Zendaya Team Up For A New Super Bowl Ad About Sally Selling Her Seashells

Every year, large corporations shell out big bucks to woo celebrities to help pitch their wares during the Super Bowl. This year was no different. And perhaps one of the most interesting combinations of celebrities and ad content is in the new Squarespace commercial directed by Edgar Wright and starring none other than Zendaya.

In the one-minute ad, we see Zendaya playing Sally, a young entrepreneur who sells seashells by the seashore. (Yes, like the tongue-twister.) There’s not a whole lot of shocks and thrills in the ad, but you can tell that the company hired Wright to bring some whimsy and silliness to the whole thing, and he delivers. Oh yeah, and special points go to Wright for landing Andre 3000 to help narrate the proceedings.

Also, with the success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home and “Euphoria,” Zendaya is basically one of the most recognizable faces on the planet right now. So, consider this a bit of a coup for Squarespace when trying to find the right actress to bring Sally to life.

Edgar Wright, of course, is coming off last year’s release of “Last Night in Soho.” However, this Sally Seashells ad seems more in light with the more humorous films of his past, including “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.”

Will this help sell the website creation tool? Who knows? But for those of us who are just interested to see which filmmakers and stars will join forces for a silly Super Bowl commercial, this one might be the most interesting of the night.
