'Eiffel' Trailer: Romain Duris & Emma Mackey Star In A Romance That Spawns Paris' Eiffel Tower

In the company of the Statue of Liberty in New York City and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, the Eiffel Tower in France stands tall as one of the world’s most renowned landmarks. Something sometimes lost in translation when marveling at these works of architecture is their inherent humanity. Take a moment to process the fact that these were all designed and built by people. Albeit fairly fictionalized, as any historical film is susceptible to being, the historical biopic “Eiffel” releases in theaters this summer. The first trailer for the upcoming feature film offers us more to learn about the man behind the iconic tower.

Naturally, “Eiffel” by screenwriter Caroline Bongrand and director Martin Bourboulon is a romantic drama. It only makes sense, given that the titular tower is located in Paris, famously recognized as “the city of love.” Based on footage featured in the trailer and early reviews of the film, viewers of “Eiffel” can fully expect as much drama as there is romance in this story. In a Screen International review for the film’s October 2021 France release, author Lisa Nesselson writes “Issues of class, wealth and power are woven into the tale, but this is a bittersweet love story at heart.” A traditional, age-old romantic story of inspiration and power sounds like the exact ideal for “Eiffel.” This new trailer features the first look for viewers at this old-fashioned drama.
