It’s too easy to make puns about a reboot titled "Flatliners," so I’ll avoid them. However, the project has been in the works for a few years (and at one time was envisioned as a possible TV series), but it looks like things are starting come together for this one that’s being electroshocked back to life (sorry, couldn’t help it).
Ellen Page is the first actor to come aboard the movie. Niels Arden Oplev ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") will direct the film that has a script from Ben Ripley ("Source Code") about med students who kill and revive each other all in the name of research only to discover, as you would, that there are chilling consequences to playing God. Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, and Oliver Platt, starred in the original 1990 flick, but there’s no word yet on who will join Page. If the filmmakers are casting in the same age bracket, I’ll toss out a few suggestions for the male roles: Evan Peters, Miles Teller, Zac Efron, and Michael B. Jordan. Make it happen Hollywood.

No word yet on when production might begin, but it will likely have to wait for Page to finish doing her rounds for "Freeheld." [Variety]
