'Wild Mountain Thyme' First Look: Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan & Jon Hamm Star In New Romance From 'Doubt' Filmmaker

The fall does seem awfully bleak if you’re a film fan that enjoys going to the cinema to enjoy a feature on the big screen. With major studios running far, far away from the fall 2020 schedule, moving films into 2021, it’s beginning to look barren, to say the least. Well, thankfully there are distributors such as Bleecker Street and the upcoming film “Wild Mountain Thyme.”

The indie distributor, Bleecker Street, is set to release “Wild Mountain Thyme” this December in theaters (and VOD, if that’s what you prefer). And in honor of that release date being announced, the studio has given us a first look at the romance film with a great cast. The film follows the story of a farmer, Rosemary, that is longing for her neighbor, Anthony, who is oblivious to her advances.

The cast for the film is pretty great and features Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Christopher Walken, and Jon Hamm. However, you may come here to enjoy the great cast, but it’s John Patrick Shanley that is likely going to keep you happy while you watch the film. The writer-director adapts his own play in “Wild Mountain Thyme.” However, he’s probably best known for his last feature film, 2008’s acclaimed “Doubt,” as well as being the screenwriter for projects such as “Congo,” “Joe Versus the Volcano,” and “Moonstruck,” the latter of which earned him an Oscar.

Here’s the synopsis:

John Patrick Shanley, who created the classic MOONSTRUCK, brings his sweeping romantic vision to Ireland with Wild Mountain Thyme. The headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon (Emily Blunt) has her heart set on winning her neighbor Anthony Reilly’s love. The problem is Anthony (Jamie Dornan) seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer. Stung by his father Tony’s (Christopher Walken) plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew (Jon Hamm), Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams in this comedic, moving and wildly romantic tale.
