Netflix has made a name for itself as the go-to spot for anything true crime. Whether you want to watch a docu-series about a man (maybe) wrongfully accused in “Making a Murderer” or the true story of one serial killer’s heinous acts with “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes,” the streaming service has you covered. And to capitalize on its subscribers’ desire for all things true crime, Netflix is set to release the upcoming Zac Efron-starring Ted Bundy biopic, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile” this May.
In the new trailer for the film, we see that Netflix is positioning this drama as a sort of horror film, with one woman (Bundy’s partner) having to come to terms with the fact that her lover is probably one of the worst humans ever put on Earth, as he’s on trial for the rapes and murders of numerous women. And through it all, Bundy never once admits to his crimes, as he begins to develop a fan club, of sorts, with people falling for his undeniable charm.
Netflix is riding a thin line here, with their latest bit of Ted Bundy content. The company came into a bit of controversy earlier this year when its docu-series about the serial killer gained popularity with folks on social media who talked about how attractive the murderer was. Now, they’re about to release a film that features the very handsome Zac Efron portraying the same killer.
