Best of lists, nominees, award winners…welcome to December folks, and it won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Today, in the most aggravating manner possible, the folks behind the Grammys slowly revealed their nominees in stages on Twitter, because that is a thing everyone does now. And for our interests, we’re paying attention to the movie categories.
But first, a note: because the Grammy eligibility calendar is a bit skewed, some of the nominations are for things that came out last year, so deal with it, and that’s probably why [insert snubbed composer or song] may not be here at the moment. Anyway, onwards. In the score category, it’s a group of heavyweights, including Alexandre Desplat ("The Grand Budapest Hotel"), Steven Price ("Gravity"), Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross ("Gone Girl"), and more.
The Best Song docket features is pretty much all songs from last year from films like "Her," "Frozen," and "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug," though "Everything is Awesome!" from "The Lego Movie" gets props. And the Best Soundtrack race pits "The Wolf Of Wall Street," "American Hustle," "Guardians Of The Galaxy," "Get On Up," and more against each other. Tough call.
