Greta Gerwig Says Her Secret Project Is "A Love Story About Girls"

nullAfter flirting with mainstream in 2011 in movies like "No Strings Attached" and "Arthur," in 2012 Greta Gerwig is reaffirming her indie darling status. With Whit Stillman's "Damsels In Distress" now in theaters, Woody Allen's "To Rome With Love," and rom-com "Lola Versus" on the way, Gerwig is back in the arthouse for the remainder of the year. And this fall, she'll once again be festival circuit bound as well.

Last week it was revealed that the actress had written a film that was shot on the sly last fall and was gearing up to be unveiled later this year (or possibly at Sundance in 2012). Not much else was known about the project until she chatted with The Telegraph, revealing a few more details about the movie. It's "…a love story about girls. It’s a girl who’s in love with her best friend, but not sexually. It’s sort of that moment when you realise, 'Oh, so we won’t all move in together,' and you’re going to move on with your life," Gerwig explained adding, "I’m really proud of it. I think it’s really good."

All told, it looks like it will be an exploration of tightly knit female relationships and we're certainly eager to see the perspective Gerwig will bring both as a writer and performer to the project. But there is still so much to be revealed just yet including the director, co-stars and hell, even the title. With a couple more movies on the way and doubtless more interviews, we're sure Gerwig will have a few more opportunities to let people know what she has in store.
