'Halloween' Deleted Scene Pays Homage To The Franchise's Connection To 'Psycho'

There’s nothing scarier than a shower. Seriously. If you, like me, are an avid horror movie enthusiast that watches way too much true crime content on Netflix, then you probably realize that the shower is one of the most vulnerable places in your dwelling. When you’re showering, the noise, the steam, the curtain (or glass) all prevent you from hearing your inevitable demise. Worst of all, you’re going to die naked, which adds a whole different layer of humiliation. But I digress.

This fear is expertly used in “Psycho.” And in the new deleted scene from the new “Halloween” reboot-quel, the shower is yet again mined for its inherent creepiness.

In honor of the 2018 “Halloween” coming to home media in early 2019, Universal (via EW) has released the first deleted scene from the massive hit film. The scene features the podcasters featured at the beginning of the film, as one is taking a shower. That’s when we see the infamous Michael Myers mask approach, eyeing his next victim.

The scene is also a subtle, but awesome, homage to the scene in “Psycho.” Why would “Halloween” pay homage to “Psycho,” you might ask? Well, in addition to the Alfred Hitchcock film being worthy of homage in any film, the fact that “Halloween” (the original and reboot-quel) stars Jamie Lee Curtis makes it even more apt. Curtis is the daughter of “Psycho” actress Janet Leigh, who made the iconic shower scene come to life in the film.

When “Halloween” hits home media in January, the film will be accompanied by a slew of special features, including five featurettes. So, not only do you get a brutal, fun, and scary film, but the disc will go into more of the behind-the-scenes of what made this low-budget reboot a massive worldwide hit.
