Hilary Swank Joins The Gang In Steven Soderbergh's 'Logan Lucky'

It’s been pretty quiet lately for two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank. The actress hit a streak of unfortunate movies a few years back —namely,”Amelia,” “Conviction,” “The Resident,” “New Year’s Eve” and “Mary and Martha“— which either didn’t connect with critics or audiences or both. When she did find great material, like Tommy Lee Jones‘ western “The Homesman,” that film was criminally overlooked. On the horizon for the actress is a role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu‘s TV series “The One Percent,” she’s leading Bille August‘s “55 Steps,” and now she’s adding a particularly buzzworthy project to her slate.

Swank has joined Daniel CraigKatherine Heigl, Channing Tatum, Riley Keough, Adam Driver and Seth MacFarlane in Steven Soderbergh‘s “Logan Lucky.” The picture concerns a pair of brothers who attempt to pull off a heist at a NASCAR race, and Swank will play an FBI agent who is chasing down the thieves. While there was some question about the extent of Craig’s role, he’s actually the co-lead of the movie.

Pre-production has already started on the movie, filming will begin this fall, but there’s no release date or studio for the movie just yet. You can easily pencil the picture in for a 2017 release (and a highly anticipated one at that), though knowing Soderbergh, “Logan Lucky” will be finished and cut before the year is out.
