Hulu Reportedly Interested In Reviving Recently Canceled 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Yesterday was a sad day for fans of Fox TV comedies. The network brought the hammer down on three comedies, with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Last Man on Earth,” and “The Mick” all getting canceled. While “The Mick” and “The Last Man on Earth” were relatively popular in their runs, the real shocker was “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which just finished its fifth season. Fan outrage was immediate, and apparently, other networks took notice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” producers started to get calls yesterday from media outlets interested in continuing the series on a new network or service. NBC, TBS, Netflix, and Hulu all are reportedly interested in carrying the series, with Hulu having the slight edge considering they already have an SVOD deal).

After the fan outrage, that included celebs like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Hamill, Universal TV, who produces “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” began plans to revive the series on another network. As mentioned previously, the obvious fit would be Hulu, who has a deal with the series already and also has a history of taking Fox castaways. Hulu famously picked up “The Mindy Project” for multiple seasons after Fox booted it off the air.

However, Netflix has the money to do just about anything they want. The streaming service also has a strong history of reviving sitcoms and could easily slide “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” into their plans. There’s also the outside chance that NBC or TBS take over the series, as both have become strong places for comedy series.

THR is also reporting that the other two canceled series, “The Mick” and ‘Last Man’ are up for potential revival elsewhere. “The Mick” debuted big two years ago but has fallen during its most recent sophomore season. “The Last Man on Earth” is currently being shopped around for a final season, which was reportedly what the producers were looking for from Fox before the series was canceled.
