John Krasinski's Next Movie 'IF' Adds 'Office' Co-Star Steve Carrell

While John Krasinski made the jump to writer/director well before the horror thriller “A Quiet Place” and the sequel “A Quiet Place Part II,” the major success of that first film really changed everything for him as a filmmaker. And perhaps in a sign of going back to his indie dramatic roots, instead of directing the third ‘AQP’ movie right away, Krasinski is making another film for Paramount Pictures titled “IF.” An original project created and written by Krasinski, “IF” has some stellar actors joining and a bit of reunion as well.

According to Deadline, John Krasinski has added his “The Office” co-star Steve Carrell to his next directorial effort. The rest of the cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag,” “Indiana Jones 5”), Ryan Reynolds, Alan Kim (“Minari”), Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and Louis Gossett Jr. (“Watchmen,” “An Officer & A Gentleman”).

Krasinski will also be in front of the camera taking a role himself.

“IF” is said to be “about a child’s journey to rediscover their imagination.” Although, we’ll have to wait a little longer for more concrete plot and character details along with the size of the roles. Posting on social media, Krasinski called the collection of actors on Twitter (see below) his “dream cast,” confirming the new additions to the project.

Recently, Reynolds has been touting a “sabbatical” from acting but maybe “IF” is the current exception. After that, he’s got some big projects on the horizon like Marvel’sDeadpool 3,” and he’s expected to return for sequels to “Red Notice” and “Free Guy.”

A release date for a third “A Quiet Place” film was recently bumped to September 22, 2023, following filmmaker Jeff Nichols’ (“Midnight Special”) exit. Nicholas was recently replaced by “Pig” director Michael Sarnoski. Krasinski is still involved with the untitled spinoff as a producer, suggesting many more films set in that universe could come in the future.
