'The Invisible Man' Trailer: Blumhouse & Leigh Whannell Terrorizes Elisabeth Moss In This Horror Reimagining

Imagine what it would be like to be unseen to the rest of the world. At the very least, the younger crowd would probably be chomping at the bit to get in to see an R-rated movie without being noticed. The prospect—however—creates a much likelier chance for people to use and abuse such an ability. Kevin Bacon’s Sebastian Caine found that out the hard way in 2000’s “Hollow Man.” Ironically, the inspiration behind that movie is set to return to the big screen, as “The Invisible Man” makes his presence felt once again.

This re-envisioning of H.G. Wells’ story is written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Many fans will recognize him as one-half of the creative force behind bringing the torturous games of the first three “Saw” films to fruition. Whannell is also responsible for breathing life into the frightening landscape of “The Further” in “Insidious.” Kylie Du Fresne produces the project along with Jason Blum, adding yet another entry to his already impressive horror resume.

Elisabeth Moss—fairly fresh off of playing a deadly doppelganger in “Us”—portrays Cecilia—the primary target of the titular character aka Griffin who is played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“The Haunting of Hill House”). Other members of the cast include Aldis Hodge (“City on a Hill”), Storm Reid (“A Wrinkle in Time” & “Euphoria”), and Harriet Dyer (“The InBetween”).

Here’s the synopsis:

Cecilia receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide and begins to rebuild her life for the better. However, her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.

“The Invisible Man”—distributed by Universal Pictures—is set to be released in the U.S. on February 28, 2020, and in the U.K. on March 6, 2020. Enjoy the trailer as if nobody else is actually watching.
