Jim Jarmusch's 'Limits Of Control' Bumped Up To May 1

Good news for fans of indie stalwart Jim Jarmusch and his existential hitman drama, “The Limits of Control,” has been bumped up by almost a month.

Originally due May 22 in limited release via Focus Features, the film will now bow out twenty one days earlier on May 1.

This will mean the film will certainly not get a world premiere at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival as was rumored as the French fete begins March 13-24. Does that mean the film was rejected from Cannes? Probably not worth the speculation and we should just all be happy we’ll be getting is sooner than later.

“The Limits of Control” is the story of a mysterious loner (played by Issach De Bankolé), a stranger, whose activities remain meticulously outside the law. He is in the process of completing a job, yet he trusts no one, and his objectives are not initially divulged.

Note the weirder side of the synopsis: “His journey, paradoxically both intently focused and dreamlike, takes him not only across Spain but also through his own consciousness.” Sounds like a strange psycho-psychedelic bent.

The film also co-stars Bill Murray, Gael Garcia Bernal, Tilda Swinton and an excellent international cast including Paz De La Huerta. The soundtrack is also set to be incredible and features soundscape-y drone music from metal rock acts like The Black Angels, Boris, Earth and SUNN O))) that were compiled by Jarmusch himself. Here’s the trailer again, it’s pretty elusive and ominous in a very enticing way.
