We’ll give credit where credit is due. We didn’t think producer Marc Fiore could pull it off. But lo and behold, he’s landed a big actor to take on the lead role in the upcoming saga “Gotti: Three Generations.”
John Travolta, who was said to be in “serious talks” months ago, has locked down the lead role in the upcoming film. Last year it was revealed that John Gotti Jr. was going to spill details about his life with his father, the notorious John Gotti Sr. (head of the Gambino crime family), for feature film, documentary and book projects. The feature film looks to be the first project, strongly moving forward with Travolta now on board as Gotti Jr. and Nick Cassavetes set to direct the tale about the gangster’s efforts to leave the life and start over.
Leo Rossi—whose only two credits are “We’re Talking Serious Money” and the awful looking “Mafioso: The Father, the Son”—is penning the screenplay. So our expectations on this are severely reserved.
The film is gearing up to shoot in New York this summer with more news likely to come at a press conference that’s been scheduled for April 12th. And that’s all well and good, but where’s our John Travolta/Nic Cage reteam? C’mon Hollywood, don’t let us down. [Variety]
