'The Other Typist': Keira Knightley Teaming With 'The L Word' Creator For New Hulu Series

Keira Knightley is making her way back to TV screens, and she’s teaming up with the woman behind “The L Word” to make it happen.

According to Deadline, Knightley is set to star in the upcoming series “The Other Typist,” which will be written, produced, and showrun by Ilene Chaiken. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Rindell. “The Other Typist” is set in Prohibition-era New York and tells the story of Rose, a prim police typist, that gets swept up into a darker, shady world by her new co-worker Odalie (Knightley). And when a crime is committed, it’s unclear which of the two women might be the more treacherous.

Knightley is no stranger to TV. Throughout the early portion of her career, she appeared in various guest-starring roles and TV films. Her most recent TV venture is the 2011 miniseries “Neverland,” in which she voiced the character of Tinkerbell. Of course, this is a much bigger role in a more high-profile series. Recently, Knightley has been seen in a variety of films, including “Colette,” “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” “Official Secrets,” and “Misbehaviour.” Her next feature is the upcoming comedy, “Silent Night.”

As mentioned, the new series is set to be showrun by Chaiken, who is best known for her work on the acclaimed Showtime series, “The L Word.” For “The Other Typist,” she’s expected to write the pilot episode and stay on to oversee the new drama. Most recently, Chaiken is one of the producers on the Fox series “Empire,” as well as “The Handmaid’s Tale” and the new reboot of “The L Word,” ‘Generation Q.’
