'Loki' Season 2: Marvel Hires 'Moon Knight' Directors

Next month, Marvel Studios debuts their latest superhero series “Moon Knight,” a darker, more twisted tale about an anti-hero with a multiple personality disorder starring Oscar Isaac. And in a major vote of confidence, happy with what they brought to the project, it looks like Marvel will elevate the “Moon Knight” directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead for their next series.

According to Deadline, the pair of directors, known for “The Endless,” “Synchronic,” have been tapped by Marvel to direct the second season of “Loki” starring Tom Hiddleston. The duo takes over from Kate Herron, who directed season one and has since moved on to produce her own original projects.

While head writer/showrunner Michael Waldron (“Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness”) is back as an executive producer, Eric Martin is going to be penning all six episodes of “Loki” season two. The series centered on a variant of the God of Mischief and will continue his adventures at the TVA after the big cliffhanger in the season one finale.

Benson and Moorhead obviously impressed Marvel and are just coming off their big Sundance hit, the lo-fi, sci-fi conspiracy film, “Something In The Dirt.”

The rest of the cast in season one consisted of Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant as the Classic Loki variant. It also introduced audiences to Jonathan Majors’ puppet master He Who Remains, a variant of Kang and will become the big bad of “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.”

Mohamed Diab is the lead director on the “Moon Knight” series, with Benson and Moorehead as support. But it looks like they’re being moved into that lead helming position for “Loki.” Filming is expected to occur in the United Kingdom after the first season was shot in Atlanta and “Moon Knight” debuts March 30 on Disney+.
