Last summer, Brie Larson was brought out with great fanfare at San Diego Comic Con and introduced the world to “Captain Marvel.” But ever since, news on the project has mostly been quiet. Kevin Feige has shared that the movie will tell an origin story, and that the character is one of studio’s “strongest,” but we don’t know who will be behind the camera. And it looks like we won’t know for a while.

Variety reporter Justin Kroll revealed on Twitter that Marvel is in “no rush” to find a director for “Captain Marvel” for a couple of good reasons. First, the movie is still a way off, with “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Ant-Man And The Wasp” arriving first. And secondly, they want to get the script by Nicole Perelman and Meg LeFauve into strong shape. Well, that seems reasonable enough, and yes, that also means that the early shortlist of directors was a bit premature.
All that being said, Marvel tends to get the ball rolling on their blockbusters early, and it’s a safe bet that “Captain Marvel” will shoot in early 2018. So could we see a big director announcement at this year’s Comic Con? I wouldn’t be surprised. But for now, let us know who you think should be at the helm. [via AV Club]
@khevey6 Marvel in no rush, waiting to get a script they are happy with. No need to rush since PANTHER, INFINITY and ANT-MAN come before it
