Marvel's Kevin Feige Says The 'Loki' Series Will Have "More Impact On The MCU Than Any Of The Shows Thus Far"

Marvel Studios is aiming to crack the Multiverse with a bulldozer rather than a hammer, as their Loki series is set to directly tackle both the Multiverse and the agency, the Time Variance Agency, that protects it from folks like the god of mischief from messing it all up.

While we did see a little bit of the Multiverse covered in “Wandavision,” as it teased the upcoming events, the Sam Raimi-directed “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness,” the new series is indeed going to have a large impact on the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has stated to Empire Magazine during a recent interview that “Loki” is going to have a larger impact on the overall MCU than the two previous shows, which is quite the claim and only increases the appointment viewing angle for the new show debuting on Disney+ this week.

“It’s tremendously important. It perhaps will have more impact on the MCU than any of the shows thus far. What everybody thought about ‘WandaVision,’ and was true, and ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier,’ which was true, is even more sort of true for ‘Loki,'” the studio head told Empire.

The outlet also posted a new still (see below) from the show featuring Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki and Wunmi Mosaku as a member of the TVA.

One of the first things we could speculate is that the “Loki” series might have ties to how Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster becomes Lady Thor in Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Love & Thunder,” as it’s a female spin on Dr. Donald Blake/Thor transformations from the comic books, something the film version decided to avoid exploring entirely as Thor is always Thor. Coming from the Multiverse could be a good explanation.

The equally obvious link to “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” as the Darkhold, a Marvel Comics version of the Necronomicon, might become an object of interest to both Loki and the Time Variance Agency. We last saw Wanda as the Scarlet Witch trying to pull her family out of the Multiverse using the book’s dark magic, which could have dire consequences to the timelines and potentially draw out dangerous creatures from other dimensions.

“Loki”s head writer Michael Waldron (“Rick & Morty”) worked with director Sam Raimi to rewrite the sequel’s script from scratch, so having added connections to the series in the new script wouldn’t be shocking to us, given that Loki and Stephen Strange tangled in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania” having Jonathan Majors playing Multiverse villain Kang The Conqueror could link back to the TVA as well.

“Loki” will begin airing on Disney+ this Wednesday, and we should be bracing for a Season 2 announcement.
