“I have been saving up my money since ‘Sicko’ to get to this day. I will always make my own movies. Now I have my own money to make them.” Michael Moore says he will self-finance his films after “Capitalism: A Love Story?”
Don’t believe the hype too much. This is Moore believing cynically that after skewering Wall Street, capitalism as an idea and therefore the studio suits that funded this money, no one will want to fund a Michael Moore film post-‘Capitalism.’
We don’t buy it. The Michael Moore satirizing business is a good one and if someone gave him money after the barely-watched, “Sicko” (which was great and worth watching), studios will continue to give him money. Don’t fret at the contradictions, Michael. If they’re going to give you money to make a movie, use it and stick ’em with the bill. [Independent]
