Michelle Monaghan Joins Cary Fukunaga's HBO Series 'True Detective' With Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson

nullYou had us at Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. But toss "Sin Nombre" and "Jane Eyre" helmer Cary Fukunaga in the mix, and a crime series for them to play with? Just tell us when, and we'll be there. Brewing for the past year and picked up by HBO almost a year ago, it looks like "True Detective" is heading toward cameras.

Michelle Monaghan is the latest to join for what sounds like a potentially great series on the cable network, who have already gone ahead and ordered up an eight-episode first season. In the style of "The Killing" (albeit, with the promise that it will actually have a resolution), the story will jump back and forth between 1995 and 2012 to follow the story of detectives Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson) who are on the hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. Monaghan will play Harrelson's wife who "makes a hard decision that has long-reaching and devastating consequences."

Needless to say, this sounds awesome and we can't wait. No word yet on when it will air, but 2014 seems like a solid bet. [Deadline]
