Though the franchise spouts the idea that everything you do should be for your family, the ‘Fast & Furious’ series of films has had its fair share of in-fighting between actors and filmmakers. From the highly-publicized disagreements (or fights, depending on your definition) between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson to Michelle Rodriguez openly calling out the filmmakers for mistreating the female characters, there has been no shortage of behind-the-scenes drama that has followed the franchise.
And according to a new tweet by the aforementioned Rodriguez, it appears that there may be some bad blood between at least one of the actors and writer Chris Morgan, who has been the creative backbone of the series since ‘Tokyo Drift.’
While sharing an article on Twitter about Morgan claiming that the “Justice For Han” movement will have its moment in the sun in future ‘F&F’ films, Rodriguez quickly made a point in letting everyone know that the writer doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.
“I’ve been around since the beginning way before Chris Morgan came along & he has absolutely nothing to do with where this narrative is or where it’s going FYI,” she tweeted.

Quickly, for those not steeped in the ‘Fast’ lore, Justice For Han refers to the campaign by fans that want to see Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw character pay for the murder of fan-favorite character Han, who was killed in “Fast & Furious 6.” Now that Shaw is one half of the good-guy duo in ‘Hobbs & Shaw,’ fans are concerned that the character won’t have to face retribution for killing one of the heroes of the films. Morgan, as is detailed in the interview, says that this will happen eventually.
But really, the Justice for Han thing is just the tip of the iceberg in what seems to be happening with the ‘Fast’ franchise. Morgan is responsible for writing entries 3 through 8 in the franchise, which has been previously criticized by Rodriguez for its treatment of female characters. Then, interestingly, he moved on to write ‘Hobbs & Shaw,’ along with Diesel’s apparent adversary The Rock. And neither Morgan nor Johnson will return for the upcoming ‘Fast 9.’ So, maybe this is yet another sign that the ‘F&F’ franchise is moving in two very distinct directions?
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out as the next ‘Fast’ film is expected to be released next year and there’s likely to be a ‘Hobbs & Shaw 2,’ if the box office pans out. Will they exist completely separately? Or is this all blown out of proportion and Dwayne Johnson and Chris Morgan will have their return to the main series? One thing is for certain, with all these disagreements, they definitely got the whole “family” thing down pat.
