Miles Joris-Peyrafitte Reportedly Hired To Helm 'Tank Girl' Film Starring Margot Robbie

It would appear that the rumored “Tank Girl” movie from Margot Robbie is actually a real thing that is beginning to come together.

Just days ago, it was revealed by the comic book character’s co-creator Alan Martin that a brand-new “Tank Girl” film was in development with Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap. However, Collider not only confirms that earlier report but says that the upcoming film is being looked at as a starring vehicle for Robbie, who has already found a suitable director.

The report says that Miles Joris-Peyrafitte is being looked at as the helmer of the “Tank Girl” film. While he isn’t a household name, yet, Joris-Peyrafitte is an up-and-coming filmmaker that recently worked with Robbie on the film “Dreamland,” which debuted at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Previous to that, he debuted as a feature filmmaker with the project “As You Are” in 2016.

“Tank Girl” is a comic book series that follows the title character as she goes around a post-apocalyptic world looking for odd-jobs and getting into trouble along the way. The character originally appeared on the big screen in the cult classic 1995 film that starred Lori Petty in the title role. However, with comic book properties becoming big business in today’s world, the idea that a “Tank Girl” film starring Margot Robbie would ever flop is hard to believe, especially considering the character’s legions of diehard fans.

Robbie has a busy schedule ahead of her, which makes “Tank Girl” pretty far down the line. Later this year, she’s going to appear in the Roger Ailes/Fox News film “Bombshell.” The actress is currently in the middle of reshoots for the highly-anticipated “Birds of Prey.” And later this fall, she begins work on James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad.” There’s also that “Barbie” film that is still coming together. Needless to say, Robbie is a busy lady.

Collider says that a script for “Tank Girl” is yet to be completed, so it’s likely that the film is on the backburner for now. That being said, with a new director being hired, it appears that, at some point, fans will get to see “Tank Girl” rise again on the big screen.
