'Mortal' Trailer: Nat Wolff Discovers He Has God-Like Powers In André Øvredal's Latest

There’s a large amount of wish fulfillment that attracts people to superhero films. You can’t help but watch Superman fly through the sky or see Spider-Man swing high above the streets of New York City and think about how amazing that must feel. And the same could be said about having some sort of Norse God-like powers, right? Well, in the upcoming feature “Mortal,” actually having those powers isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

As seen in the trailer, “Mortal” tells the story of an American teen in Norway that finds himself on the run after he accidentally uses his lightning-based abilities to injure a bully. He meets up with a woman that wants to help him control his abilities and use them for good. However, that plan is derailed as he is being chased by the government that doesn’t want him to hurt anyone else.

“Mortal” is directed by André Øvredal. The filmmaker is an accomplished genre director who has worked on previous features such as “Trollhunter,” “The Autopsy of Jane Doe,” and “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” This film stars Nat WolffIben Akerlie, Per Frisch, Per Egil Aske, and Priyanka Bose.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In this spellbinding thriller, a sleepy Norwegian town erupts after an American backpacker, Eric, is arrested. Witnesses claim a teen died after touching the stranger, and that he inexplicably started a fire that engulfed a farm. He warns a psychologist, Christine, that he has supernatural powers, and that anyone who gets too close to him dies. Is Eric a liar, a freak of nature, an angry god? Determined to find the truth, Christine draws nearer, and what she finds is beyond her wildest imaginings…

“Mortal” arrives in select theaters and On Demand via Saban Films and Digital on November 6 followed by a Blu-Ray release on November 10.
