‘Ms. Marvel’: Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah Talk About What Influenced The Coming-Of-Age Superhero Tale [The Playlist Podcast]

Just over a month after the release of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and merely weeks removed from the end of “Moon Knight,” Marvel Studios is back at it and has unveiled its latest project, “Ms. Marvel.” And in this episode of The Playlist Podcast, we discuss the new series and why it’s one of the best offerings (so far) from Marvel in a while. We also share an interview with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directors behind the first and final episode of the series.

“Ms. Marvel” tells the story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) as she comes to terms with her newfound superpowers as she also tries to juggle the everyday drama of high school. A daydreamer, Kamala is constantly thinking about the Avengers and living in a fantasy world that suddenly becomes much more real. This is a refreshing change of pace for Marvel Studios after dealing with gods and mental illness in “Moon Knight” and multiversal horrors in the aforementioned “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

In addition, we also get a chance to speak with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directors of “Bad Boys for Life,” as they talk about what it was like to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for “Ms. Marvel.” In addition to that, the duo teases their next project, the highly-anticipated “Batgirl” film, which is coming soon. Yes, they even talk a bit about Michael Keaton’s involvement.
