According to Deadline, Natalie Portman is set to star in and produce a new film, “The Days of Abandonment” for HBO. The new film is based on Elena Ferrante’s best-selling novel of the same name. Though she was a very busy actress in 2018, with the debuts of films such as “The Life and Death of John F. Donovan,” “Vox Lux,” and the sci-fi thriller “Annihilation,” Portman has remained relatively quiet in recent years. Her most recent feature is the drama, “Lucy in the Sky,” which debuted in 2019. Of course, she is currently in the middle of filming her highly-anticipated return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the forthcoming “Thor: Love & Thunder,” which will find her character take up the mantle as the Mighty Thor.

There’s no timetable mentioned for when “The Days of Abandonment” will begin production or see its release on HBO. But with Betts and Portman attached, this has all the makings of a must-see drama.
